Asus reveals first ever 144Hz monitor – pricing and avail. TBA
Although it may seem overkill Asus has surpassed the 120Hz barrier and released a 144Hz monitor – the VG278HE. Asus claims the additional 24 frames per second advantage you have over 120Hz is even more engaging yet no true tests / impressions have been given. The 27″ inch display is a 1920×1080 TN panel. The lack of an IPS panel may be a turn off for some but we can assume Asus did this to help with costs. It would have also been nice to see a bump to 1440p to help with the large pixel pitch present in 1080p 27″ displays. The monitor does have support for Nvidia 3D Vision 2, although that’ll need to be purchased separately. Inputs include HDMI, dual-link DVI and D-SUB (VGA) inputs. Two internal 3W stereo speakers are included with an headphone jack. Stand adjustments include swivel, tilt and height adjustment. Asus has not released any details regarding availability or pricing, but based off the closest spec’d VG series monitor ( VG278H ) we’d expect it to be priced around the $700 range.
